Although Charles de Batz de Castelmore d'Artagnan is a historical figure from 17th century France, he's mostly famous for being the hero of the adventure novel The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas.
In the novel, he's a young musketeer fighting alongside his friends Athos, Porthos and Aramis to protect the Queen from prime minister Cardinal Richelieu's plots.
La Rochelle is a French city where part of the adventures happened.
